History

The NAB Foundation was built under the umbrella of the North American Baptist Conference to raise the visibility of estate planning in the Conference and distinguish current funding from deferred and planned giving.

Since 1915, the North American Baptist Conference has had an estate planning ministry.  But during the 1980’s formal consideration was given to create one foundation to serve the Conference.

In 1987, Dr. Constantino Salios (known to all as Connie) became Director of the Conference estate-planning ministry and instituted the Stewardship Weekend events that are still being held today.

In the year 2000, the concept of an estate-planning foundation was approved by the NAB General Council.  In early 2001 the legal documents were completed officially launching The North American Baptist Foundation.

The North American Baptist Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the United States and a registered charitable organization in Canada.

A Board of Directors, including ministry leaders and business professionals from both Canada and USA, was established to provide oversight, leadership and accountability.

In 2003, Dr. Phil Yntema became the first President of the NAB Foundation after serving over a decade as Executive Director of the NAB Conference.  Connie and Phil shared the field work with the support of Jan Weiss serving as office administrator.

In May 2011, Rev. Ron Norman, became the Foundation’s second president.  In January 2013 Philip Bailey joined the team as Project Specialist.

Our ministry provides service in three areas:  estate design; training in personal financial freedom; and a consulting relationship to churches interested in conducting a capital campaign.
